0F '80

There is little dispute in the annals of rock music history that the 70’s was the most prolific period ever in rock n’ roll.  The late 60’s produced a lot of great music that lead into the 70’s when stereos, radio, PA’s and other technology expanded the range of good music and what was possible for making, recording and playing live music.  After 1980, we can all agree that rock n’ roll went downhill, disco sucked and the music business torpedo’d the creativity and ability of musicians to get their music into broad circulation.  Disco and punk were emerging.

I have put together a compilation of what various outlets consider the best rock albums for each of these years.  There is always debate about what was truly best, I changed a few things around, but this at least gives a good idea of what was coming out and what was popular and who the biggest artists and bands were.  Many of these albums are now classic rock history and many will appear on the list of the best 100 albums of all time.

I hope this create some discussion.  I mean, like who the hell put Cheap Trick In Color ahead of Pink Floyd Animals in 1977?  That is just stupid!  We were very fortunate to come up in this pretty free and easy time.
